I know that this isn't exactly news, as it seems likely that there will be a new ATV announced on Wednesday, but discussion on another thread has given further suggestions that a software update will be out very soon.

In the recent article about the mlb.tv App, it was mentioned that the ATV will get a new interface for mlb.tv for 2012.

I believe that it will need a iOS update to give this new interface. Whilst Spring Training started a few days ago, and you can access those games that are televised on a computer or iPhone and iPad, the ATV doesn't have coverage of any 2012 games yet. According to mlb.tv, access on the ATV will be coming in "early March".

I think that it is very likely that the mlb update is part of a new ATV update, which I assume will come on Wednesday or soon after.

As I say, not groundbreaking news, but a bit more evidence of updates coming.

Thanks for Sharing, while the update itself is not news as you said the mlb part is (to me at least) a very welcome update =)

I watched a few spring training games om my apple tv yesterday.

Yes, spring training games are now available, but the new interface obviously isn't out yet.

My guess that they may have been waiting for the new interface (and therefore ATV update) was wrong, but the point still stands about an update being imminent.

Although we knew that already really. :)
