Apple tv / iPad streaming

I am not sure if this is even possible with my current gear, but here is what I want to do:

I want to use the speaker on my first gen iPad to listen to music stored on my 1st gen apple tv.

The apple tv is synced with the library on my eMac, so I guess I could also stream from that to the iPad. The goal is to not store music on the iPad.

its possible and most likely easier to just use you iPad to homeshare yout iTunes library, acutally before i say that is the 1st gen iPad on iOS 5.X?

Yeah, first genstunning the latest ios. but it is only a 16 gb, so I don't want to have a lot of space occupied by music.
