I am new to Apple TV and I was thinking of getting one only to utilize the movies I have in Digital format on my Hard Drives, but overall what are the downsides and what are the Pros, I hear something about 1080P limitations, whats the scoop all.
But if you have HD movies... nope.
So the TV shows I downloaded off iTunes and any HD movie I own I can not rip to be played on ATV, also the fact Apple sells HD movies and they can not be played? That is really crappy, I need to look at how to convert my 2009 Mini to handle the task.
... it's fine if you want to see your pictures hugeified on whatever size TV you have..
I'm becoming increasingly tired with Apple TV and have been considering this player for a while. My only concern is the ability to playback the surround sound. The spec says:
An audio receiver is required for surround sound output. AAC/Dolby Digital decodes in 2 channel output only
If I had a home cinema system consisting of a blu ray player and 5.1 speaker setup, can the blu ray player act as the receiver and output the proper intended sound? ie 5.1 surround sound?
