I have a question about sorting of movies on Apple TV vs iTunes. I have movies in a series sorted in as a show (i.e. Friday the 13th movies are all under "Friday The 13th" in the Apple TV menu).

Here is my issue, I like for movies in a series to be sorted chronologically on the Apple TV i.e. Jason Goes to Hell (which is part 9) should be before Freddy vs Jason (which is part 11). In order to facilitate this I tagged movies like this with a sort title by tag (i.e. Jason Goes to Hell sorts as Friday part 9 and Feddy vs Jason sorts as Friday Part 11).

Unfortunately this also sorts them in this manner in iTunes. So Jason Goes to Hell is lumped in with the F movies.

Is there a way to accomplish two different sorts for the same movie?

One thing you can do is fill in the "show" field for all Freddy/Jason movies (parts 1-11+) with something like "Jason Flix"...this will cause all Jason movies to be grouped into a nested folder of sorts on the Apple TV...

After you do this, I can't remember the specific sort tag at this point and I am not in front of my aTV at the moment to check, but I believe there is a Sort Show field or something along those lines that should allow you to sort items within a specified "show" grouping...

Hope that helps!

Sounds like you are using the show field to clump series of movies so to get them in the correct order, select the movie, get info, select the "Sorting" tab, and fill in the "Sort Name" field with Friday 1, Friday 2, etc. for each movie

If I am hearing you correctly, the sort show field is a file specific tag that sorts the files within the show "clump". I thought that sort show was a tag to sort the entire "clump" within the Apple TV main menu not a means to sort the individual files within the "clump". I will try this tonight.

Thanks a ton! You are the man!
