Searched to no avail, is this working for anyone in iOS 17 beta?

When I open search in any app on the Apple TV I used to get a push notification on my iPhone to type input using its keyboard, but seems to have broken with iOS 17

The only time I get the prompt is if I have the Apple TV remote already open on my phone

Already restarted both devices, removed and added the account on the Apple TV but haven’t done with the iPhone as it’s not something that warrants that kind of effort

Will be useful for others if you post your feedback ID from when you reported this issue as a bug. Then others who have this can refer to your report.

Novice here on tvOS v16.6. How does one set this up to get any notifications on the iPhone to type input? Using latest AppleTV and iPhone13mini with current software.

I haven’t submitted one yet as I wanted to check if it was just a me issue or affected others too

Provided your Apple TV is logged into the same Apple ID as on your phone it should be automatic

Make sure you have the Apple TV keyboard notifications on in your settings

Thanks for the quick reply. I have all devices on one AppleID, and all of my notification settings are as displayed in your photo. Still seeing no notification on my iPhone13mini when entering any AppleTV screen where keyboard input should be allowed.

Are both on the same Wifi network?
Presumably. I have an eero mesh network with eight eeroPros spread throughout the home all on one SSID. However, the eeroPros have both 5gHz and 2.4gHz networks and both have the same SSID. The gateway eeroPro is Ethernet connected to the fiber modem…all other eeroPros operate wirelessly. However, my AppleTV is Ethernet connected to a close-by eeroPro.

Ah. That is more complex than I am used to. I just have a single router for Wifi and Ethernet.

Yeah, I used to as well. Unfortunately, in our 1905 home with lath/plaster interior walls that are a foot thick, the single wireless router didn’t work very well. Even the mesh network is just ok with eight identical meshed routers. Better coverage and throughput would happen if I could hardwire each router, one in each area, but running Ethernet in the home would be almost impossible in any sort of acceptable way.

I have my ATV on 16.6, iPhone on 17 b5. My ATV is wired to my router through a switch. WiFi is dual-band, single SSD. The keyboard notifications worked fine before I updated to 17b5. I don't want to update my ATV to 17 beta yet so it's most likely a compatibility issues or a bug. I suspect it'll be resolved when public releases.

Good to know, might log a feedback then

I tend to agree it might just be the apple tv running 16.x and the phone running 17bX being the issue. Like you I don’t want to enrol my Apple TV into the beta

So updated my ATV and iPhone to b7 and the remote keyboard notification is working perfectly now.
Thanks for confirming

Looks like you probably need to be on matching OS levels for it to work

Thanks! I am having the same issue, and wondered if not having the beta on ATV was the culprit. Thanks for confirming. I'll install that now.
