JVC Introduces TVs with iPod Dock at CES

So, having an iPod dock built right in does everything the Apple TV does. And, yeah, you can connect your iPod directly to your TV now. The problem with that is that you have to use the iPod to control everything.

The thing with this new built-in dock is that the remote has controls to operate the iPod.

Yea, maybe not as simple as the Apple TV, but a cheaper solution. What Apple needs to do is license the Apple TV technology so it can be integrated right into the TV.

If you want to watch 320X240 on a 42" HD TV this is nice but the :apple:TV currently does 720P. Not to mention what it might do in 2 months.

No killer here just a company taking advantage of markets.

Good move.

Err...no wifi. So you need you iPod there all the time you want to use this function.

It's nice, not earth-shattering.

Yeah, I dont think this killed anything. Except maybe some rep points for the title.

Well, maybe you are right. The Apple TV is already dead. That became known after Jobs called it a "hobby".
Anyone who pays $299 for the Apple TV is a sucka.

Really? Huh. I have an Apple TV and stream pictures and music from the iMac in my office to my LCD in the living room all the time. Certainly worth $299 to me.

I like hobbies...I have them, and sometimes the result in cool things, sometimes they don't.

I'd say this "hobby" of Apple's resulted in something neat.

This coming from the person who called the JVC product an "Apple TV Killer". LOL
Care to explain the generalization or will you just let it linger in the air?
Yeah, he'll let it linger.

Apple TV is definitely worth it and even more so now that JVC has taken their shot at something that doesn't even compare.

The Apple TV isn't the iPod Hi-Fi.

The Apple TV does desperately need an update though.
