Apple TV no longer responding to remote

As some of you know, I think my ATV is on its last leg. Today it stopped responding to the remote. I've done a cold reboot and a warm reboot, but neither solves the problem. I've changed the battery in the remote, I've used another remote, and I've done the forced unpairing (Menu+FF for 6"). Every time I push a button the light on the ATV changes to yellow. Any ideas?

I believe to unpair a remote you press menu+rewind for 6 seconds, not menu+ff.

Page 33 of the ATV manual says:-

Rejecting a command from the remote
(you've paired a remote with the AppleTV but you're using a remote that's not paired)

Status light will flash amber once.

Do you have a iphone / ipod touch to make sure the box is still responding via itunes remote app?
