I recently purchased an Apple TV and when I tried to sign into iTunes on it, it said iTunes was not available and I had to check back. When I tried log into my homeshare it said username or password not recognized. I repeated this countless times, sure that my user ID and password are correct. Something seems to be wrong with the connection set up.

Any way to fix this?

I had a similar problem recently. I unplugged the Apple TV for a few seconds.
 
make sure it's connected to the network, and in turn that network has a valid internet connection.

it took me a few times to figure out the ethernet cable had popped loose. By password incorrect it means it can't talk to apple to validate it. It's a poorly worded message.
