Apple Tv Now?

I have wanted an apple tv for a long time now and my birthday is next week..i didn't get any updates to the apple TV like i wanted, but still think its great. I doubt that Apple is going to update it this year or am i wrong? I don't care if it's updated in January and i got it now, but i don't want to see an update in October...

I just got a 40GB ATV off ebay for $70 delivered. It works fine. I have the kids DVD's loaded on it now so that they won't bust up all the discs.

The only issue I am having is that the wireless is having trouble holding a WIFI signal. I am reserving judgment as the ATV is in the basement and the router might have problems getting to it. Interestingly, the Airport Express has not problems...

does streaming work fairly well? I'll have it connected directly to the router with a 10Mbs connection. Is it worth the money for the larger HD or is the 40 good enough if ill be mostly streaming and only have about 25 gig of music.

Go for it. Since there was nothing announced today, it likely will not see a hardware update until next year (hopefully sooner rather than later). This was the iPod/iTunes day which is the leg of the business the Apple TV falls into, and it got nothing today. Nothing is coming this year.

What would be really awesome would be an external DVR hookup through the USB port...one can hope...

It does everything i would like it to and need it to do now, there was just some extras i was hoping they would add, but i guess not any time soon. Well it should be a sweet birthday present then!
