I like to backup my photos from Apple TV to a USB memory stick.

My Macbook's hard drive had crashed and I have my old pictures only in Apple TV, uploaded earlier.

If I sync my Macbook with newly replaced Hard Drive, I will loose all old pictures from Apple TV.

You'd probably be better off running a basic patchstick on the ATV to enable SSH. Go ahead and restore your computer, then you can scp the files off of it back into your computer.

It may be tricky locating the photo files, and chances are they won't have the file names intact, but you should be able to find a complete folder that you can copy over to your frontrow user folder, then grab with scp or any number of sftp options.

Just don't fire up iTunes yet (or at least don't link it up with the ATV).

If you're totally lost about how to do that, take it one step at a time and ask around. Learn by example (you should be able to back-track how people are moving stuff "to" the ATV, and reverse the process).
