I'm excited for the new Apple TV. Airplay mirroring, 1080p? Come on!!!! Finally!!!!!

I'd like to hear your predictions on what Apple TV will become.

I predict (down the pipeline):

1. Itunes Match for video ($25/yr= all your DVDs/BDs stream from the Cloud, rather than from your 3 TB external hard drive).

2. HD Games will stream from the Cloud; no more physical discs for gaming. Apple will become a viable competitor to Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo in the hardcore gaming market. Which leads to...

3. Apple may produce a video game controller with tactile analog sticks/buttons which will somehow integrate with iphone or ipod touch (or have its own screen). This is my most outlandish prediction and is probably just wishful thinking.

What are your predictions for what Apple TV will become? Do you agree or disagree with my predictions?

What I want on my Apple TV!

One word: Thunderbolt !!!!

This would open up the ability to have a video server in your house!

Boo-Yah.

I like the idea here, but from a historical point of view I don't think it will happen. A lot of people are looking for this but Apple has tried this in the past and it failed :(

Now, they are trying to become more gamer friendly with things like iOS and OS X gamecenter (coming to OS X this summer with mountain lion). But these are more geared to casual gamers and non gamers, compared to XBox and Playstation for the "hardcore" gamers.

Good idea but we'll probably have to wait on this one.

The Pippin actually has very little relevance to today's Apple. The only thing connecting the Pippin to the Apple of 2012 is the name. Apple in the early 90's had their fingers in everything. Cameras, Consoles, Printers, PDA's, etc.

I don't see how Apple's failures in the distant past has any bearing on what they do today.

Now, with that said, I don't think Apple will try to take over the game console market ... yet. ;)

Not sure what it will bring, but I really need Hulu so the ATV is out until then. Can't even use Airplay mirroring to deliver Hulu to the TV.

Roku will do Netflix & Hulu but no Airplay.

I'd like one box to do it all.

Live television streaming and video on demand service. As much as I'd like to see this announced tomorrow, I think something that big would come with the announcement of an Apple branded tv, which isn't happening tomorrow.

Yeah...Hulu would be fantabulous!!!

Come on Apple...You have Netflix (eh...) but give us Hulu on the Apple TV...then I will update my first gen 160-gig ATV to a 3rd gen 1080p monster...and like I said before...Thunderbolt that bad boy also!!! :apple:
