State of Denial
Just an FYI for those of you with a Costco in your area. 160g model is normally $389 however there is an instant $90 rebate in store bring the price down to 299.

Was enough for me to pull the trigger on a second one.

does this date of purchase fall within Costco's new return timeline for electronics should Apple release a hardware update at MacWorld?

Do you need a coupon for this? Or is it just honored when you purchase it. I'll go get one today if I can.

Thanks.

The only time I've seen Apple products at my costco was when they were being cleared out by apple (they used to carry old tear drop style iMacs after they were discontinued). That was of course until the iPod came along which they carry. I wonder if the AppleTV thing means it's either being updated or discontinued. Hmm...

Costco return policy

Far as I'm aware, the new return policy for electronics was changed from "Forever" to "within 90 days". So if Macworld is Jan. 15th, this is plenty of time for returns.

rjf

The tag above it read $90.00 Manf instant rebate, Sales Tax paid on pre-rebated price.

The big reason I pulled the trigger is the sign actually said normal price of $249, less 90 and listed a selling price of 159 after rebate.

I looked high and low thinking it must be for the 40g model and did not find it anywhere. All they had out was the 160 and the part number on the tag was for the 160.

When I went to check out the price rang up at 389 less 90. When I asked about the displayed price, the supervisor when to confirm and honored the price dispite the fact it was off by $140.

Sadly, she wouldn't let me buy two at that price.

Check your store for a wrong price tag, you may luck out.

im a supervisor at costco in the bakery.

the return policy is NOT 90 days on everything. i repeat NOT 90 days on everything.

the 90 return policy is very specific
-ipods/mp3 player
-computers
-camcorders/digital cameras
-cell phones
-televisions

fall under the new 90 day return policy where costco doubles the standard warranty of 1 year and extends that to 2 years. ((6 months on sony tvs because they cover a 16 month warranty))

evyerthing outside that specific qualification is given the FOREVER return policy which i feel gives costco the advantage over the other wholesale warehouses.

i returned a surround sound system the other day that was 4 years old and got all my money back.

haha i love it

PS. apple tv doesnt fall under that specific return policy issue, so use it til it breaks and retun it and get ur money back---photo copy the receipt because the paper fades afte a month. tape it to the bottom of the apple tv so u always have the receipt.

COSTCO/APPLE 4 E!!!! haha

I just went to the local Costco on my lunch break here in Atlanta. The sale they have listed is on the 160gig ATV for $299 or $90 off like previously stated. I did not however see any 40gig ATVs in the store.

$299 is still a good deal though. I am thinking about going ahead and getting one. Does anyone know the answer to the following?
I want to purchase this on my American Express card but do not have a membership to Costco. I plan on going with a friend who has a membership to make the purchase and just paying with my American Express. Can I do that or does Costco not allow credit card purchases on cards of non-members?

Costco shouldn't care whose AmEx card you use as long as your friend presents his membership card. I've done this myself.

you cannot go into a costco and use a non members Amex. You must be a member to use your Amex...debit on the other hand is ok

only legit way of getting around this is walking in and going to the membership desk. Ask for a "day pass" to see if u like costco. Then do what u want...oh the loop holes

You can also cancel membership at any time and get hte $50 back. Problem is they give people a hard time on returns, if you're no longer a member.
