I was just thinking pending the announcement for tomorrow and short stock supplies of apple tv 2.
Maybe apple release a real apple tv product, or at least announce one to the world pending FCC approval etc similar to the original iPhone. This gives them a view of how well this product is going to be and hence the "And something you need to see"
An easier route at the moment would be to release an apple tv 3, more memory and 1080p support using air play features extensively with the new iPad and also Mountain Lion which is coming later in the year.
They make an APP which would be modelled on the same principles as News Stand, however make it Apple TV Shelf which will then allow you to subscribe to the channels you want provided by the individual cable companies etc, giving you choice of which channels you want and price them individually.
Providers could potentially make more money from some users as you can subscribe to them from any device giving you access to watch them on any device, iPad, iPhone and the Apple TV. If you have any device iPad and iPhone including the Apple TV the handheld device could become your channel surfing surface where you can select the channel and BOOM its on the device or Apple TV if within range.
Bring this full circle and let SIRI control your choice with simple commands like "I want to watch .... on the apple tv" If you have the channel it will just start playing etc.
I think giving the user the flexibility of watching content from any device at any time but also giving the user the best possible experience when at home with the same content will be a true change to this industry.
Just a thought!
