Apple TV - slow, sluggish, unresponsive

Hello,

I have had an Apple TV (the newest model) for about a month and a half now. Recently (as in the past week) the Apple TV has become extremely slow, unresponsive, and sluggish. Every time I try to move through the menu it doesn't work, but I can see that the Apple TV recognizes a button press due to the flashing light on the device itself. After a couple minutes the menu moves one to the right, but then immediately moves back to the starting point (all the way to the left). Basically it seems like the menu is stuck on "Movies".

The first month I had absolutely no problems with the Apple TV at all and I love it for watching movies and YouTube. I don't understand what's wrong with the device. I tried resetting it as well.

Any ideas? Is the device faulty? Should I bring it to my Apple store? I can't even get to the settings menu.

Have you tried restarting it? Hold down both the Menu and Down arrow buttons until the light flashes quickly, then let go.

I, too, have had similar problems. Except mine existed from day one. AirPlay is mediocre at best, as are all other streaming-from-device features. I am told that it's just my connection, but considering I can play XBox Live quite fine with very little lag, why can't I stream music from a device on my own network to another without interruption?

I just submitted feedback for iTunes because when I tried to play music from iTunes to the Apple TV, it gave me an error message (I forgot which number it was) and the Apple TV symbol was gone in the bottom right. This isn't the "it just works" kind of experience I was hoping for when I bought the Apple TV.

I find that I have to physically unplug and re-plug the ATV to make it forget all it's troubles. I suppose a software re-boot might do it too. I hadn't thought of that.

One thing that could be related is that I am getting a lot of RF noise that causes communication problems between the computer and both an old and the new ATV. If I use a microwave oven while playing music, it will cut out and come back only after the microwave turns off. I also have an old fan that, if turned up all the way, causes frequent drop outs. Obviously this is a wireless issue and not specific to the ATV, but is it possible that poor wireless communication might cause problems in navigating the menus?
