Apple TV: Sync or Stream?

I just purchased the larger gb Apple TV and am about to hook it up...but was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on whether it's best to sync it with iTunes or stream via iTunes? Frankly, I don't really see myself using tv to listen to the music from my library...but I would like to have access to the music videos and short movies that are there. Primarily, I see using the tv to rent movies via iTunes and watch them on my TV.

One other question: If I purchase a music video (or song) via tv...does it end up in my iTunes library on my computer? And will it sync to my ipod the next time I do a sync of that device? Or does it simply go to the tv hard drive and reside there? If this is the case, is there any way to legitimately get it into my iTunes library so I can have it in the same place as everything else...and can sync to my ipod the next time I do that...

Please advise.

In your case, particularly since you have the 160gb TV, I'd sync. Streaming works very well too, but having your content on the TV hard drive means that your computer doesn't need to be on with iTunes running every time you want to watch something.

Second -- or is it third? -- question:

I have a macbook (Tiger) and a new iMac (Leopard), which I'm also about to hook up. I've been gradually transitioning everything to mac from PC...so it took a while to un-jumble all my Windows stuff and get it sorted onto the macbook to the point where I'm ready to power up the iMac and clone everything onto it. A while back, I reformatted my ipods for the macbook and tied them to it. Now that I've got the iMac...it sounds like I should make that the hub for everything...

I know this is all a matter of personal preference really, but if there's any reason I shouldn't -- or perhaps a strong reason I should (given the iMac is Leopard, for instance), I'd be interested to hear feedback from anyone who happens into this forum.

I'm not too anxious to upgrade the macbook to Leopard just because I want to hold on to some of the previous incarnations of iLife and iWork (i.e. iMovie, etc.) since I've heard so much bad stuff about the new iMovie ('08).

Again, any feedback or suggestions are appreciated.

Using two itunes accounts on aoole TV

I have a UK and US itunes account so have two ID's and passwords in my library. Can I register both ID's with the same apple tv?

the new iLife is better IMO. You can download the old iMovie to use for free with iLife 08 if you want. I agree with above also. If you have the HD space on your TV, no reason not to sync. I stream everything because I am changing my library alot and I don't want to clog my wireless bandwidth with it syncing all the time. If your library is large you might want to connect by ethernet for the first sync.

I have the 40GB. How can I make it "stream"? In the setup in iTunes, I get two options "Auto Sync" or "Manual Sync", how do I just get it to stream?

I am guessing "Manual Sync", but any help would be appreciated

Set it up via ATV. Instead of linking your account, set it up to stream. If you have the two sync options, you will need to delete the ATV from iTunes and set it up again.

Ooo... good question. How does one set up an account for the UK store when one lives in the States?

Two things: 1) upgrading to Leopard doesn't mean you can't run previous versions of iLife and iWork. 2) if you do choose to upgrade to iLife 08, bear in mind that while iMovie 08 does indeed get mixed reviews, owners are entitled to download a copy of iMovie 07 for free.
