Is there a trick to syncing and streaming from the same computer?

Do you have to wait till it is completely synced with your selections before setting up streaming?

No trick. It's just a matter of sources. If you want to stream from your sync-ed machine, you have to go to the sources menu and pull content from the sync-ed computer. If you select the ATV source, you will see the content that has been sync-ed from your main machine.
