Just a thought... http://macnewbtube.wordpress.com/2007/09/09/18/

It wouldn't really make any sense to me.

Anyone with an Apple TV also has a computer with iTunes somewhere else in the house.

...Are we really becoming that lazy?

Besides, it would be a pain to try and search through the iTunes Store with that puny remote.

For rentals, it might not be too much of an obstacle. It seems to me that the "new releases" could be found using the ATV (as is now done for purchases), but still keep the iTMS searchable for older programs from your Mac (for purchase and download). Rentals are temporary, thus could be downloaded directly to the ATV (for an set duration; x number of days or x number of views, etc.) while purchases would still be made from one of your Macs.

What they need to do, though, is to separate themselves from BB and NF. Give us downloadable, rentable HD content (with true 5.1 audio) and you can kiss BB and NF goodbye!

Of course, this is all just WAG on my part...

Count on it

I was going to write some long, humorous satirical post until I realized I'm just not tht funny, and don't want to bore you to tears.

You can count on a rental/purchase upgrade to the :apple:TV software. If it benefits Apple's bottom line, you'd better believe they'll make it available.

Just don't hold your breath for any other kind of update. :(

We in iPhone-land, bitten by the bug of sanity, now see the kinds of updates we've been getting:
1. Ringtones ($ for Apple)
2. ITMS WiFi ($ for Apple)

Get the picture?

And for the future...
3. Apple Store WiFi
4. The Steve's bank account for immediate deposit...

And don't forget the soon to be available:

5. STARBUCKS feature! :apple:$$$:apple:

"Walk into a participating Starbucks with your laptop, iPhone, or iPod touch and buy whatever’s playing — along with millions of songs on iTunes — while your latte cools."

Personally, I think this would be a good idea. Browse the selection of movies from the couch, purchase, download and watch. More so with the rumors of rentals on iTunes.

Then, like the Wi-Fi store, sync back to your main Mac connected to the AppleTV.

Ain't it the truth? I remember when they actually added useful features instead of new ways to suck my bank account dry.

They'd have to bring out some kind of keyboard so you can type your search, but then you'd have keyboard you'd only ever use once in a blue moon, I don't see the wifi store coming to the :apple:tv

The remote can search, like with YouTube on the AppleTV, or Remote Buddy on the Mac...
