For the last few weeks I have noticed that both of my Apple TVs, second generation, are just turning on, kind of. I'll get home or something and the little white light is just on. I'll turn on the TV and go to the correct input and only sometimes the device is actually outputting output. If there is no output I just press a button on the remote and it turns on but the light is still on.

Any thoughts or others having the same issue?

me too

the same thing happens to me.

My ATV2 also does this. I always assumed that it was doing some networking shenanigans, like renewing its DHCP lease or ensuring that it's visible on Bonjour as an AirPlay receiver, but now that I really think about it, it's not really necessary for the little white light to turn on just for this kind of background functionality.

So it looks like others are seeing this. How long ago did you all start to see this, for me maybe just the last month or so.

I have 2. One does this all the time. It is plugged up direct to a Vizio tv. When I turn the tv on, the light on the apple tv2 turns on. When I switch the the hdmi input, will either stay on with no imput on the screen, or it will turn off. Either way I have to hold down the button for a few seconds and the throw some holy water on it. It drives me nuts. The other apple tv2 is plugged up to a Sony receiver and never turns on by itself.

I've had it happen once that I've noticed on my ATV2 and that was about a month ago.
