he's just taking a cheap $5-$15 USB thumb drive and loading "patchstick" software on it and selling it for a huge markup.

If those steps are beyond your technical capabilities (or you don't want to download a pre-made patchstick image from various torrent sites) then this might be a good deal.

But essentially, you're buying a cheap piece of hardware loaded with software developed by people other than the seller who is just (free)loading on the hard work of others.
