Hi

My friend has been kind enough an give me over 2 TB of ripped Dvd only problem is they are in vob files!

There is 4/5 vob files per film. What is the best way to join these so they one file?

Also I have boxee running ok my ATV

I have handbrake an have tried the apple preset an it's going to take around 4 hours for each film is there a better quicker way ?

Regards

Leaving aside the legal and ethical issues...

Yes, HandBrake is the way to go. And 4 hours per film is not unreasonable. Transcoding is a very processor intensive operation, and if your computer is a few years old it is going to take longer.

Thanks for the reply

so is handbrake better than quicktime pro for encoding files for apple tv?

QuickTime Pro won't do it, so you need HandBrake. There are other options, but HandBrake is the best.

Or just put Boxee on there and you can play VOB's native without conversation.

D Vision 3 can join the VOBs.

ok thanks for that

right now would you encode all my vob files into one an use boxee or should i use handbrake with the apple preset and use via itunes?

what is the best option?

If you use Boxee, then you don't have to encode your VIDEO_TS folders. You might have to turn them into ISOs, though. You can do this in Disk Utility. Or, to save drive space, you can use HandBrake and convert them to mp4s and add them to your iTunes library. That's what I do.
