Apple tv will not wake up for mirroring

AirPlay mirroring will not work for my iPad, iPhone, or Mac mini unless I wake up the appletv with the remote. It will not wake up in its own. It is even hardwired directly into my airport. After I wake it with the remote, it works beautifully.

So, what is wrong?
