So I got my Apple TV in the middle of January and this situation has occurred twice already. Let me explain:
At some point, I will sync Apple TV to get the latest streaming playlists and it will not stop syncing. I have Custom Sync set up where I only sync photos and stream everything else. So my syncs typically take 10 seconds. But this time they will sync forever, if I'd let them. I've tried restarting iTunes, the iMac, and the Apple TV, but this doesn't appear to help. The only thing that fixes it is disconnecting the link between the iMac and Apple TV, and then linking them back together. Of course, I have to resync all of those photos again.
Something that might be of interest is this typically happens to my iPod Touch at the same time, although I'd say it happens to my Touch more often. It gets into a state where it's stuck syncing infinitely and only restoring it up from a backup and resyncing everything will fix it. This will help for 2-3 weeks until it gets back into that state again.
As a second side note, this occurred with my iPod back in iTunes 7 as well as now in 8.
So it seems like it might be an iTunes temporary file for keeping track of the syncing or some plist maybe that is getting corrupted or something. But I'm not one to mess with these things if I don't have to. Any ideas what might be the issue? Many thanks to anyone that can help.
