Has anyone got the issue of where they have playlists (including the generic shuffle option in the top music menu) where there are over 100,000 songs that the AppleTV2 only plays 16 seconds of the song then resets itself completely? Its driving me batty and the only thing I can think of that MIGHT be the issue is the 100,000 song mark. it also seems to have only occurred after the 4.2 updates...
Any ideas? thanks : )

100,000 songs???
dude... delete some content. Easiest fix.

Anyhu, I have a second generation Apple TV, and a large music library (around 9,000 songs), thought it pails in comparison to your massive collection, and have experienced no issues.

I recommended hard restoring your Apple TV

1.) disconnect Power, HDMI, and ethernet as necessary
2.) locate a micro-USB - USB cable and connect your Apple TV to your computer (WITHOUT POWER)
3.) Launch iTunes, and locate your Apple TV in the source list
4.) Click "Restore"

hope this helps

hehe - yeh i likes me music

Thanks - Ill give that a go tonite when i get home from work and let you know the outcome...

No dice

Sorry mate - that didnt work either - the thing still resets itself after 16 seconds of playing music in large playlists.... Does anyone else have any ideas at all?

Make a smaller playlist, and see if that helps.

smaller playlists work...

Thanks - i have many smaller playlists and they work fine. My issue is with the larger ones - sometimes i want my music on random all day long with out certain genres - and i cant do this as it stops playing after 16 seconds. its ridiculous that it does this, and its only done it since the upgrade to 4.2.
