Apple TV2 - music skips?

Hello,

Last night for the first time I noticed that my new ATV2 (bought last week) exhibited a tiny audible 'blip' or stutter during music playback.
I immediately checked the source files on my iMac and the 'blip' is not present.

The ATV2 is streaming from my iMac which has a USB 2 external hard disc connected that contains the iTunes library.

The pathway is like this;

Imac (Itunes on external Drive) - wireless is disabled.

Ethernet to router.

Ethernet to Cisco Switch.

Cisco Switch to W.A.P. (Wireless Access point)

A.T.V. - wireless connection to W.A.P.

A.T.V. optical out to Cambridge audio D.A.C.

Cambridge D.A.C to Amp.



I have had the new ATV for 5 days and until last night it had been faultless.

Any ideas?

Interestingly, I have this exact same problem and it is quite often (8-10 skips an hour perhaps?). However, I am cabled using cat 6 ethernet cable through a Netgear gigabit router (I realize the AppleTV2 is only 100mb). The AppleTV2 and my Mac Pro from which the music is being streamed are both fully patched to latest versions of everything as of today and I am still seeing this issue. The only 2 things I could think of is that perhaps my Mac Pro RAID configuration was creating some issue as one of the drives in there has been very noisy lately... but this is highly unlikely as we are talking about a VERY small song and reading from a RAID array with 2 TB drives. Shouldn't be an issue I wouldn't think. The second idea I had was interference. I moved my router behind my center channel in my home theatre and am concerned that the 6-8 inches I have between them may not be great enough. Although, again I wouldn't think this would be a huge issue. Any other ideas?

Any chance the drive(s) on the Mac may be going to sleep? That's what I would look at - particularly with the OP's set-up. A lot of external drives have a sleep mode that acts up sometimes. I had to turn it off on my Seagate.
