Hey all,
When will Apple start caring about other countries outside of the US with the Apple TV? Where's BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, Channel 4oD, Demand Five?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/9A405)
Well, my PS3 has most of those options as does my iPhone, and I know most of them are also available on the iPad. Wii and Xbox also have a few of those. Point is, BBC especially will have an interest as they have to, it's in their charter to be on as many devices as possible.
This needs to be native on the Apple TV in the UK for it to be a best seller
How do you know those companies have even shown any interest in Apple TV as a platform? It's not up to Apple to write 3rd party apps. My TV has BBC iPlayer built in, but none of the others you mention. Is that Panasonic's fault? I doubt it. It's more likely the organisations concerned aren't interested in platforms that are not just a web browser and Flash viewer.
They have all made iPad apps which are mainly very good especially iPlayer.
The difference in this instance is that there is a public SDK to develop for iPhone and iPad, there isn't for the AppleTV.
Hopefully there might be, sometime this year though![]()

my guess is that apple won't want them on the apple TV because it will hurt their profits of selling the shows through iTunes.
this will be the same reason there are no catchup services on the US version of the Apple TV, but services like netflix are allowed on there because (pure guess) they are paying apple to be on there.
If you jailbreak it, you can get all of the things you mentioned. Jailbreak, install XBMC and it opens up a new world for the appletv. Mine even has HD streams of Sky Sports 1,2,3,4, Sky F1 Channel, all of the Sky Movies channel, and plenty more.
Sky Sports?
How? - I would like all of the above! - Do they work regularly?
Not really, cos iPlayer only lets you watch most things for 1 week after broadcast. Some series remain available for the duration of the season - so it's not like you can watch old episodes of classic shows which would take profit away from Apple.
with a valid sub and the sky go app most likely.
you aint going to get it for free
