I was trying to order a Mac Mini server today on the UK Apple website. No problem selecting the server itself but I needed a few extras including a keyboard. I wanted to order the British version of the wired keyboard (without the numeric keypad), the version that is listed as an option with the other non-server Minis. It seems that these keyboards are available for virtually every other European country but it you actually try and select the British one, it magically becomes the German version when it appears in your basket.

I was wondering if anyone else could confirm this, or if it's just some sort of weirdness with my browser? Incidentally the International English version isn't the same as the British version that I'm looking for.

No, you are not alone. I get the German one too.

Probably better to order over the telephone then.

Thanks for the quick replies. I was beginning to doubt my sanity... again :)

Unfortunately I've already tried the telephone route. Once I eventually got through to someone it took me about 5 minutes of hand holding and click by click instructions for them to see the problem and that was after the initial brush off that they didn't sell wired keyboards without numeric keypads. They then put me on hold to go and find out what to do before coming back and telling me that that kind of keyboard was not available in the British version, this despite it being a suggested option when configuring the other non-server Mini models.

Are there any british keyboards wired with numeric keypads?

Good call. There are because that's exactly what I have sitting in front of my iMac 24, and you can select the item on the UK store site, examine the image of the layout with the pound sterling symbol on the 3 key and the Euro symbol on the 2 key, but when you try and order it, it does exactly the same thing as with the other keyboard and turns into the German version.

Ouch. Sorry, obviously came across in a way I hadn't intended. I appreciate the quick and helpful replies here. It was just my way of saying that I'd already seen that option and had tried to forestall people being sidetracked by that version.

Try checking the link again. You might see what you are actually looking for. :)

Actually, you can't buy any of the Apple keyboards with a British layout from the UK Apple Store.

None of them have a British option and all default to German if you add them to your basket without making a choice from the drop-down list.

Thanks! I could have sworn that link took me to the International version before.

The problem is that if you then click to add that keyboard to your basket and then check what's been put there, I'm guessing you'll find the German version.

OK I guess it's safe to assume it's not just me then. I was trying to order a mini server with the Promise SmartStor external RAID but I guess I'll hold off until they get their web store fixed and I can order a keyboard to go with them.

Anyway, thanks everyone for the help. :)

Just in case it's useful to anyone else...

I managed to get around the problem by adding to my basket one of the standard Mac Minis with the optional keyboard option selected. Then I simply deleted the Mini from the basket leaving the keyboard (the one that the guy at Apple store claimed didn't exist).

So, now I've just got to wait for a bunch of new toys to arrive. :)
