I believe there was someone who had the same issue who posted a couple weeks ago. They called the apple store multiple times and kept complaining and apple eventually fixed it and he was able to get the ipad on the orginal date promised.

Unless of course you are on your 10th iPad. You said it was your first "order" not "purchase"... :D

If you have never bought any iPads from anywhere (Apple Retail store, Best Buy, any other reseller like MacMall, etc.)...so this was truly the first-ever iPad you had purchased, or that anyone has purchased on the credit card you used and/or the Apple account that you used, then it is a glitch in Apple's system. As someone else pointed out, someone posted a similar story a couple of weeks ago on the forums here and after many phone calls, they eventually got it worked out. You'll have to get the case escalated to a supervisor, as it it doesn't appear the grunk phone workers can do anything about it themselves.

Whereas if you have purchased some iPads before, from any location, or someone else you know has purchased iPads using your credit card or your Apple account... then you have indeed reached the sales limit, and there is nothing you can do about it.

Do you have a common name? Maybe Apple accidentally put you on the No Buy List. Crazy it's come down to this but give Apple a ring. They'll make it good once you assure them you are not a serial buyer.

I'm in the UK and Apple have done the same to me.

I ordered on day 1, but last week when orders started shipping, mine was cancelled. I tried talking to Apple but got nowhere - still waiting on responses to either my email or phone calls.

Yesterday I finally got the same email as the OP, 5 days after the actual cancelation. I haven't ordered one before, there is nothing strange about the order and my name is not common. The only thing I can think of is that I wanted it shipped to work. If they're cancelling orders to work addresses then I expect many more will be affected.

I'll call them again later, but I'm not holding out much hope.

Yep, that happened to me in Sydney, Australia. I've called Apple Online Store several times. Sales person and I went through my purchase records several times together. Eventually, they acknowledged that they have made a mistake and reinstated my original order (except the camera kit).

If you believe that you shouldn't have received the cancellation email, you should call Apple Online Store. It might take several calls, but they will fix it.

And I didn't post this to my original thread, but you Apple Online Store informed me that they've seen a case like:

1) you ordered (an) iPad(s), but accidentally ordered two or more, then
2) you cancelled that order, then immediately after receiving an email confirming your cancellation,
3) you place another order with just one iPad.
4) Apple Online Store system thinks you've just purchased your third iPad and can cel your #3 order.

If you can convince them that this was your first-ever iPad order, they will take your case to the "Back Office" to sort it out.

Good luck.
