With the iPhone, I can make FaceTime video calls without a 3d recreation of my face emoting.

I can text and browse web sites, and listen to music beamed up into my ears with AirPods and watch videos and shove the screen an inch from my face to pretend I'm in a mega theater.

I can respond to texts on my wrist with the flip of a finger or a quick mutter to the mic with Apple Watch if I dont feel liek pulling the device out of my pocket or its on the table.

I can have the guidance of the iPad and bigger screen iOS whilst on the royal throne seamlessly handing off my iPhone iMessages and continuing to browse important journalism through iCloud tabs.

I get great all day battery life, without plugging a cord into my head that only lasts 2 hours.

I can show off that I have the latest model in public to all peasant owners of the previous generations.

I can afford to buy the Pro model, and throw it away literally toss it into my recycling bin, and purchase a new one for 3 and a half releases in a row and still break even.

I can do this all with a device that will be stored in my pocket and always on my person.

I can iPhone.

Thankfully the iPhone and this isn't meant to compete...

Of course, Apple would prefer you buy one of every product, including this thing.

Well, my Mac Pro is more convenient/enjoyable to me for that - and some of the other stuff you mention. My iPhone is more of an outside the house phone/email/text device.

If everything I hear about the new Apple AR/VR product is true it sounds cool. It'd be interesting to try in setups where there's no space for the kind of thing I already have going. I just don't have $3500.
