Just something that I thought amusing on my recent trip to PC World:

Apple to the right of the store, Microsoft to the left - doing a cross-store face off. Microsoft having started to do a booth to combat Apple's.

Curiously, Apple's computers were all open, ready to use, not locked, and had internet.

Microsoft had a bunch of black boxes, and underneath their main HDTV, some touch screen PCs. All of these were password locked, with no internet.

Apparently Apple had actually plumbed in internet specifically for their Macs for this PC World store, and normally had an Apple employee on hand. Seems that the general staff were much more Mac friendly, with iMacs (21") flying off the shelves (metaphorically :p)

That 27" Screen sure does look good doing 1080 trailers. And a VESA mount... Mmmm.

When I see all those ATX-style cases and unpacked boxes that sure brings back memories from when I worked in the do-it-yourself PC industry. I don't see anything *ugly* about it, just different. You Apple fanbois have to realize that the entire world doesn't buy into your shiny-Apple aesthetic.

Reminds me of when I used to work in the Education sector and had to visit the BETT Show every year (a technology fair for education with loads of different IT vendors; HP, Dell, Toshiba etc.). One year Microsoft and Apple were pretty close to each other and the difference in style and performance of their speakers was hilarious. Microsoft had some middle aged guy in a grey suit and adenoidal voice giving a dry lecture on databases and Apple had a hip, young, attractive French guy playing the guitar. Really made me laugh. Funnily enough the Apple stand was heaving with people playing on the guitars/midi keyboards/iMacs/iPods etc. whereas the Microsoft stand was fairly barren.

It's all about attitude. The attitude you have when it comes to how people should interact with technology. it's all about basic assumptions.

C'mon the Windows display area has boxes underneath the table. They are using it as a storage room and not an area for selling products.

Vomit. I hate PC World. There's one right by my flat in London...that I walk past in order to get to the Apple Store, another 15 minutes away.
