I know it wasn't always like this. But now my Apple Wallet cards all show up in my husband's wallet as well. He has never added them. He used to have Air Miles in there and that was it. Now he has my Starbuck's gift card and my Sephora card and a few others. I don't want him using my Starbuck's gift card. Haha. And he really doesn't want my Sephora card and my other cards either.

I don't see any option that allows us to disable this? and why is it happening? I thought maybe it was Family Sharing but my adult daughter is in our family sharing and my cards don't show up in her Wallet. My husband is set up as a "Parent" so he can approve the younger kids purchases, I am the Organizer.

We don't share apple ids; never have. My info has never been entered on his phone. We share an iTunes ID for iTunes purchases but I would think Wallet is associated with my main apple ID and not my iTunes only one.

He has tried deleting my cards yet as we weren't sure if that was going to remove them from my Wallet too. I wonder if it would be sharing credit cards if I had entered? I dunno, seems like this is a feature it should ASK if people want, not do it by default. I am not certain if this changed with iOS9 or one of the point releases of iOS9?

What id's are you using for icloud? Different or same? I can't answer about family sharing, but there has to be a logical explanation for this.

Different IDs for iCloud. We have never shared an iCloud account. And I hope there is some explanation as I don't like my cards being shared without my knowledge.

Try turning off Wallet in iCloud settings?

I turned it off but the passes remained on his device. I also tried adding a new pass, and he did not get it.

We think we know what happened, although I don't think it should have happened. A couple weeks ago I was having issues with my iCloud email not working on cellular data. We were trying to troubleshoot if it my account, or my phone, etc. So I logged out of iCloud on my phone and he logged in. My passes must have uploaded to his iCloud account then since Wallet is turned on by default in iCloud.

I really don't like that "feature". This is a bug IMO. I would hope that credit cards wouldn't have automatically uploaded, but the fact that gift card with balances did, is just wrong.

I'm not sure it's a bug. Seems like it's working as designed even though you may not like the way it's working.

I think when it is uploading money, it needs to alert you. "Wallet will be uploading gift cards that have balances, do you want to proceed?" It could even ask you if you wanted to be asked per card, upload them all, or just upload cards without balances. Now, that I think about, maybe all the cloud stuff just needs to be defaulted to off and a prompt that pops up asking you if you want to upload all Wallet, and whatever other data to the cloud.

Now, we'll have to check what other data he ended up getting from me.

Wallet is an option under icloud settings, mine is turned off. May want to send an enhancement request to apple. I can see this can go both ways.

Apple says the feature is on by default https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT203989 so you must have turned it off. My other devices (an iPad mini, not one that can use Apple Pay) wouldn't be helped by Wallet. Not to mention that Apple Pay is basically non-existent in my country since we've had tap to pay for practically a decade, the banks here don't care about Apple Pay and only certain American Express cards can be used and not all stores accept AMEX here. (stupid banks here, I would love Apple Pay here!)

Anyway, thanks folks for listening to my rant and for mentioning the iCloud Wallet setting as that is what got me thinking about this happened.

Not a bug. Self inflicted.... Works exactly as intended.

Your opinion. ;) As a software developer myself, uploading money to a cloud without notifying a user, would be a bug. Especially because the user can't stop it. The feature is turned on by default and it just happens. Once it happens, the user has to delete the cards on the devices they don't want them on; and turn off the feature. Now, perhaps if you turn the feature off, then it pulls the cards off of the other devices? I can't easily test without using my husband's phone and have no desire for this to occur again. No matter, the user still has to know that the feature was on by default to know to go in and turn it off to pull the card off of other devices.

I did turn my iCloud wallet option off. Part of my setup process for this chine. This is much different than online transactions and meant to be secure and personally I don't see what the issue is using an iCloud wallet turned on by default.

I think somebody has 'bug' and 'choice I do not like' mixed up.

Lol. I can see a teenager letting someone else sign in on their phone and their Starbucks card is uploaded to the other person who uses it. Maybe intentionally, or maybe not because there is no indication who this card belongs to. People give my daughter Starbucks cards all the time. She has about 10 in her Wallet? With various balances so she wouldn't recognize a new one. I can think of several other use cases where this would be an issue.

I am sure there are other gift cards that work with this as well. But no, you don't upload a user's money to the cloud of a different account than what was signed in prior without notifying the user.

Simple, "you have signed in with a new iCloud account, do you want to upload all of your Wallet information?". Or treat the wallet items the same as other iCloud items when you sign out. When you sign out it tells you your photo stream and iCloud Drive items will be remove from the device and then tells you your notes will be removed and then asks you if you want to delete contacts, reminders, calendars and Safari data. But doesn't ask you about Wallet items. And then keeps them locally; no choice to have them disappear with other cloud items and return when you sign back in. Seems to be the only iCloud item treated this way.

Anyway, I've solved the problem. I'll make recommendations/bug reports to apple if I want. I don't need anymore help. Thanks again for the hint on the wallet iCloud option.

To close the loop, why would your daughter give her bank account information and password and SSA to anybody? Same with the the phone credentials, this is the reason all of this stuff is protected as such. Giving away this confidential information is no different than giving your bank account information out.

OTOH removing a credit card from apple pay result in some side effects; which is why apple doesn't do it. IDK I get your drift but it's a complicated tech world we live in.

My daughter doesn't give her bank account info to anyone. I don't know what you mean by SSA. What I am saying is, the wallet passes aren't protected. If someone logs out and allows someone else to log in on their phone, which come on, is not weird, people let people log into web sites and apps and such on their computers and phones all the time (teens log into snapchat and Instagram and crap on each other's phone when their phone is dead, etc.). There is no way they would think this is an issue since they logged out first. I'm not sure if you work in software, but most people don't get how any of this **** works. This would not be weird to them. Nobody is giving out their credentials; they logged out and allowed someone else to login with that person's credentials.

I'm a software developer for 16 years and also pay attention to enough iOS and OS X crap, that I continually have friends/family coming to me to ask about/solve problems with their iPhones and Macs. My husband works in the same field so he's not a tech novice. We're not idiots; we work in current technologies; not like we're maintaining old Cobol code or something.

This wasn't obvious which was why I asked. We figured it out pretty quick after I played with the wallet setting (that neither of us really had noticed before even though we are intimately aware of many settings). This is not something the average joe would understand how it happened or how to prevent it again. And they would be confused while their gift card balances disappeared.

I really don't see this as complicated. Just treat Wallet as the rest of the iCloud items and ask you if you want to keep it on your phone or remove it. But also mentioning that info will be uploaded to cloud the next iCloud login from anyone would be useful.

And no idea about credit cards in apple pay because as mentioned earlier, that option is barely used where I am and just recently became available for a subset of AMEX cards and AMEX isn't widely accepted here.

Anyway, not trying to sound argumentative. Got 3 sick kids and I'm sick myself right now. Too hard to make my words all friendly. Ha ha.

Let me say it this way, I treat my phone like the keys to my house. It's very locked down and it's not passed around except to trusted people. I am very software savvy so I understand that side of it.

Hope your kids gets better fast. We've all been there.:)

Seems teens aren't the same. You don't know how many times I've lectured a group of them about being idiots with the internet and their phones. A ton of them don't even have their phones password protected. These are 18 year olds; adults. This is how the modern age deals with stuff. My daughter is better than most of the other kids she knows due to what we've taught her. And I still have to remind her of stuff occasionally.

At least she has enough sense to not post overly person info and pics on social media sites (because I taught her not to). I'm not certain she wouldn't disallow her best friend from logging into her phone though. Just as I allowed my best friend (husband) to log in and help me solve an issue. That being said, trusted people aren't likely to use up your gift cards unless they do it unknowingly. But if this had been my daughter I had log in to test things out instead, she'd have my Starbucks card and wouldn't even have realized it wasn't hers. Guess the money would have still been used within the the family. Ha ha.

And thanks for commiserating. I've dealt with so much snot today that I could use it as full body lotion. And then the coughing. And the youngest yelling for everything ("I need a tissue! I need water!") which you want to help because she has a fever and is ill...but ay yi yi. Pretty sure my youngest is going to be the most difficult child. ;)

If you're using Family Sharing why do you share an Apple ID for purchases...?

What most likely happened when you added your husband's iCloud email to your phone was you hit "Done" without turning off the sync option for Wallet. As a result, it merged your Wallet cards on your phone to his iCloud account.

Sorry we don't on our phones. We used to until family sharing. My point was that I use different IDs for iCloud and the store.

I figured out what happened may posts ago. ;) and there is no option to turn off Wallet prior to hitting done. I explained the issues with this in earlier posts. I signed out first, there is no option or mention of removing Wallet items from your phone when you sign out. Once you've signed out, the options for what you want to keep in iCloud aren't available (since there isn't an iCloud account on the phone). And when the next person signs in, it only asks about merging Safari data, nothing else, and Wallet is on by default. So your Wallet data can be merged into the cloud before you turn off the feature. Which again, the wallet items are handled different than reminders, notes, contacts, etc.
