how do I remove old debit / credit cards?

I recently got a new credit card, and when I go to add it, the old credit card appears.
how do I permanently remove my card from auto adding it self?

Go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay > tap on the card you want to remove > scroll to the bottom of its page > tap on Remove This Card (in red).
