Apple Watch, Airpods and Nike Run Club app

I have the apple watch series 4. I use my apple watch to run, specifically the NRC app. I have noticed that when using the app on the phone it's connected to my airpods and it gives me feedback on my run. I would like to know how to use it on the apple watch, while streaming music on my iphone from a 3rd party app like Deezer, and still get feedback on the watch through airpods.
