Apple Watch - apple pay pairing issues with IOS11?

Has anyone been able to setup apple pay on their AW2 when running the current IOS11 beta? add a new card? How about a restore of apple watch backup & then adding cards? Or indeed a clean setup?

I was wondering if this might be an IOS11 beta bug?

The sane approach would be to reinstall phone with IOS 10 and retry, or failing that, find a donor IOS 10 device I can do a test on, but I'm happy with IOS11 on phone so don't really want to back off.

The more radical punt would be to move the AW up to WatchOS4 but this is dodgy due to lack of backoff (and especially so when my watch has been third party repaired by ins. company). However if I have some evidence that it is IOS11/WatchOS 3.2.3 compatability that is the cause, I might do this. Without any evidence it's probably the wrong thing to do!

Ultimately my biggest concern is validating the watch has been correctly repaired. Secondary is getting the apple pay function back as it's ao useful!!

I tried browsing around xcode (new to me) and couldn't see anything interesting. I also tried installing the "wallet and apple pay logging profile" but despite rebooting watch/phone couldn't see any logs as per https://download.developer.apple.co...ay_Logging_Instructions__Watch_and_iPhone.pdf - perhaps it's different in IOS11 though I doubt it.

I've now proven the same behaviour on IOS 10, so this looks like a watch fault, NOT an iOS issue
