Agreed, though Apple is very anti-skeuomorphic these days, so I wouldn't expect any "photo-realistic" classic watch faces.Anybody else envious of Samsung watch faces? Apple Watch faces just don't have any real Classic looking watch faces to select IMHO

I actually really like the way Samsung has implemented their watch store with purchasing watch faces. There is a huge variety and even though some of them are not appealing to me, it's diversity what makes themunique with all the different options. I still have hopes one day Apple will expand into something like this with the Apple Watch, as I think this is highly desired by many.
I'd definitely pay for the ability to customize or change up my Apple Watch if I could - or size things down and add more widgets or what not.
It would be an ideal feature but I don't think Apple will "open the gates" to allow face watches to be customized or for developers to create them. And this is something that Apple really should expand upon. The watch faces they currently have are great and they really do suit nicely. But they need more customization, as that's what makes the Apple Watch really special. The two biggest factors that really separate the Apple Watch to make it your own, it's customizing the bands and watch faces.

They may allow developers to create it but not anytime soon, perhaps 3 years from now with a whole branding initiative of "New Model , Customized Face Watch for the price of $800" ;-)You're probably correct about Apple not allowing developers to have complete access. But I still would like to see Apple have some sort of type watch store or at least in the slightest implement a variety of more watch faces that have more depth to them.

Same here. There isn’t a digital display in existence that can play with light like these dials do.About Samsungs "classic" watch faces I'm not a fan. It just never looks good imo trying to look like something it's not. Kind of like having those fake tiles or wooden floors that are just plastic and flat.
I agree. I'm a fan of nicely crafted mechanical watch faces, too, and I can't imagine anything tackier than a smartwatch with a picture of a mechanical watch face on its display.
Are these ‘classic’ Samsung watch faces a replica of other existing watch faces?
I’m thinking part of Apple’s reason for not opening up watch faces is copyright issues. Of course, they could monitor that the same way they monitor apps for iOS.
Eh, dont you think Samsung faces a copyright infringement sue too if they didnt use their own design??
My Counter argument to you would be that they Apple Watch uses a digital display to create more diversity with watch faces to keep it dynamic. And my mechanical watches become more stagnant to me seeing the same Watch face all the time, even though I appreciate the craftsmanship. But they are also two different segments of watches with technology versus mechanical.
Could there be even more? Yeah, why not. Should they ever try to closely mimick existing mechanical watch faces? iMO, absolutely not.
I don't think Apple ever get to that point, but I would like to see an Apple Watch face store implemented.
