Heyo there. I would love for my father to have a device to monitor his heart, and give warnings when something is detected. However an apple watch is a bit too pricey, and he wouldn't use everything else that the watch does, overkill.

Can anyone offer a suggestion on an alternative that is reliable? Thank you!
 
I think you underestimate the cost of medical devices.

Apple Watch is just a 'handy extra'. It's really good that it can alert you to things, but you shouldn't rely on it.

Best bet is to get a Series 1 or 2 second hand for super cheap. Oh, and your dad needs an iPhone too.
