Hey guys, for those of you who purchased the dock, I want to hear your thoughts on it.

I just picked up mine, they seem fairly nice. I really like the heft that it has to it. The folding charging puck feels extremely nice, especially the resistance closing and opening the puck. The lightning port is the same as the iPhone, so it has a nice bezel to it (Unlike the Apple TV 4 Remote). The soft touch material feels relatively nice on top, Im hoping since it seems like a vinyl, that it will clean easy. The bottom is the same material used inside the apple watch cases. The only thing I dislike is the fringes on the outer diameter of the diskette. It looks as if it they forgot to cut it off when they stamped the vinyl around a metal inside. But, I still think its worth it. Other high end offerings cost around the same price, but don't include the charging puck and don't have elegant wire management solutions.

Slight annoyance, if you leave it bedside and want to tap your night stand to display the time when in nightstand mode, the tap won't trigger the watch since the dock is so weighted.

Also, it should be noted that it does come with a 2m long cable.

I was all negative on the Apple Watch Dock when it came out. "It's too big." "It's too expensive." Then today I saw one on display at the local Apple Store. And as is frequently the case, i bought it. I already had the Elevation Labs dock, which is less than half the price of Apple's new dock and does the exact same thing. But the Apple Dock is elegant. It makes the plastic molded docks like the Elevation Labs models look positively chintzy. Plus, the Apple Watch Dock has the charging thingamabob built in and includes a Lightning Cable. No a/c adapter, but who among us doesn't have a handful of those things floating around? I know I have half a dozen extras scattered around the house.

I'm loving the Apple Watch Dock. From naysayer to proponent, all in the space of about two minutes. It's official; I'm an Apple Wh0re.

When I did open the package, I laughed a bit though, because it was so small and I did just pay a good amount of money for it... My local store didn't have any on display sadly

Im about a beer away from dunking it in some black rit dye though..

Would've been a winner if it included a built-in battery.

Picked this up yesterday as I'm still waiting on the Nudock debacle to resolve itself and have frankly given up..

The price is shocking - even with my business discount.. (£58). Should have been £49.99.

But, is it very well made, solid, fit for purpose and relatively small footprint compared to how it appeared on pictures before I saw it in person.

The material is a vinyl/silicone material and the bottom is made from the same material is the interior of the iPhone and iPad cases.

It's nice and heavy and a quality piece of kit.. haven't really seen many docks that don't look cheap and nasty..
Just got to swallow the Apple tax if you can..

I'm tempted . . . but the box the watch came in functions perfectly well as a night-stand/charger. (I don't mean the Edition box. I mean the SS box.)

Am I right in thinking that the puck mechanism doesn't rotate, so that the charger cable can only be directly behind it and not, say, to the side?

Yes, it does not rotate. The one thing I wish it did do is have a way of pressing the magnetic charger so that it springs up so you don't have to pick up the whole dock and press it up from underneath every time you want to use nightstand mode.

I received one of these as a free gift from Apple. On my own, probably would not have even thought to purchase. After receiving, I'm actually impressed with the quality. i also like that it stays put unlike the smaller bedside charger previously used. The included charging cable is also long enough for function and doe snot create a tripping hazard in the middle of the night.

Did you have dinner at Apple's house? How did you get it as a gift?

I use the included box with the Space Black right now and it performs the same function but I am still looking for the perfect iphone/AW combo, reasonably priced, able to do nightstand mode dock and havent decided yet.

claigurl is 90% right!

I sent in my defective watch and placed an order for replacement. Called back because length of time for replacement was unacceptable, cancelled it, and took my card to rush one to me. Then I received it and sent back the defective one. Days later I received another watch. Called Support to send back the 2nd watch since there was no shipping details and no one returned my call. Suddenly charged for a watch cause they said I never returned it.

So yeah, I went off. Finally got details to send the 2nd one back after a 2hr phone call explaining the problem to 3 different reps. The final CSM was so helpful and contacted me every other day. Jokingly, I said for all this time, I should have just kept the watch. She then asked if I needed anything and I said no. She asked again a day later and I said a band, but they cannot give those out. So I said how about the charger dock and a charging cable. And low and behold she confirmed my address and I received them both the next business day.

Interesting that they can't give out the bands...I wonder why?

It's odd because I've seen people given them by customer services.

So I wonder if that CSM has been too generous and banned from doing that himself.

Definitely odd. I agree with you there. I cant complain, I mean instead of $49 I received $120 in products ($80 dock + $39 2m charging cable).

So you now have THREE chargers?

Do you have any other watches in the house?

I have one I haven't opened but was thinking the top surface was microfiber like the watch case linings and thought it would get real dirty being white and gathering dust. maybe it is more cleanable material. and why white? iPod days are over. I got it for $30 off ebay but planned to use it for trading. I have a $6 soft black plastic stand that works fine too. The watch is cool in nightstand mode tho..

Would've been a winner if it included a built-in battery.
And a solar cell to recharge that battery during the day!

It would be perfect for traveling. You could pack light with one a/c adapter and one lightning cable and still charge a watch AND a phone simultaneously overnight.
