Is there a real difference between the twos in term of battery life?

Thanks

I've found the battery on the S10 better than the S6, but that could just be because it's a newer device and I've forgotten what the S6 was like when it was new.

They're about the same. My S6 received battery service a bit over a year ago and so it had a fresh one in recent memory.

All my Apple Watches have lasted from when I took them off the charger in the morning to when I put them on the charger at bed time. If I'd done a long outdoor workout without my phone I'd drop the watch on the charger while I showered.

The S10 battery life seems about the same as other models to me. Lasts longer than my old S7 did when I switched because the S7 had aged.
My wife, however, still uses an S3. Her battery is just fine. And despite the many offers I’ve made she refuses to upgrade until it dies.

I forgot to say: the big difference in the s10 as far as battery goes is charging speed. It charges SO FAST.

To be clear, are you talking about a NEW S6 vs a NEW S10? If you've owned the S6 for several years, the max capacity for its battery will be less. You can check this by going to Settings>Battery>Battery Health.

I just replaced my S6 with S10 and notice a big improvement in battery. My S6 was well used. I would run or cycle for 1hr+ 6-7 times a week listening, tracking distance and speed with GPS + listening to music on airpods. For a 1hr run, it would lose about 35% battery. When I replaced it last week battery health was 78%. I also recently started wearing it for sleep tracking and it would deplete around 25-30% on 7hrs average sleep. I found I was charging it more, but the S6 doesn't have fast charging, so after charging it whilst showing, for example, it might only be at 75% charged and I needed to take it off the charger to use it for the day. Then it would warn me before bedtime to charge, so I would give it a little boost in order to wear it overnight.

The S10? It depletes around 10% overnight. Uses around 20% battery for an hour long run (GPS tracked) + music to airpods. I expect this efficiency is both the benefit of the fresher battery and the S10 chip.

Advertised battery life for every AW except Ultra has been 18hrs incl S6 and S10, not sure what exactly you’re looking for/expecting

Although all of them have been the same, Apple quotes this 18 hours as "18 hours of normal use". Presumably this means that if someone upgrades from an S4 or earlier (without the always-on display feature), to a S5 or later which has it, but keeps the AOD option turned off, they would get a slight real-world battery life increase over their old model? 🤷‍♂️

Apple outlines on their website what "typical use" means.
Sure, if you turn the sensors, all notifications etc off, but that is not "typical use"

My battery health is 78%. This is a good information to share with my wife so she will agree to buy an S10 😅
