I’ve had my S6 Apple Watch since a month or so after launch and was always wary of the dead screen issue. Today I woke up and the screen was black. Thought maybe it hadn’t charged but it was synced to my iPhone with 100 percent battery. I get Taptic feedback and can unlock the watch with the password (pressing where the numbers would be on screen). Force reset, ten seconds holding both buttons, does not fix the issue.

I checked Apple’s website for it and coverage expired. I had asked at a store about preemptive fixing but they said it’s only something to fix if it happens. Apparently there was a two year limit.

Watch has minor scratches around the buttons, but no cracks, bends or battery swelling issues. I ride a motorcycle and bike frequently, but have not crashed. Go swimming in a pool occasionally.

I think I’ll have to go to the Apple Store, but I’m not feeling very optimistic about the prospects. Any suggestions?

If I am not mistaken, Apple has a repair / replacement program going for this exact problem with the series 6. MR did an article about. See if you can find the article as it has pertinent information within.

I followed the links for the original issue and Apple’s website says I’m not eligible anymore. I looked around a lot before posting, but I’ll look some more! Thanks!

Apple store here in Hangzhou is saying it’s about 300 USD to send to the factory. Mine was apparently produced beyond the period of affected watched. They are checking to see if I can get some other type of solution.

I'm sorry that you are having trouble with your Apple Watch S6. It's a possibility it may have been water damage. I would suggest following the link and seeing if any of the tips work out for you.

Worst case, you may have to go to an Apple store and have them look at it. Hopefully, it's not permanent damage. They will run the diagnostic to see if there is any power going in and out. Good luck!

I’ll take a look! Apple store said replacement will cost a little less than trade in and get a S7. Waiting for them to call me back for the final word. Thanks for the help!

Agree. Replacement will be cheaper than a trade.. unless you get a new Apple Watch from a carrier in a locked-in plan.

Do you have any plans on upgrading to Apple Watch 8 in September?

Ifixit sells the screen for $150.. Not sure if you're mechanically inclined but you could swap out the screen and then sell it. I'm sure you could get at least $250 for a watch in your condition. I've watched some tech videos on the procedure and as long as you take your time and don't force anything it doesn't look so bad. As for loosening the screen, I did an iPad screen replacement and I put the device on the dashboard of my car in direct sunlight for 20 minutes and it loosened nicely. I do live in Phoenix and it was summer so your may have to adjust the time in the sun accordingly...
