Has anyone gotten an Apple Watch to unlock a 5,1 on Sierra DP?
I have all my devices on the DP, 5,1 iPhone and Apple Watch and I just don't see how to enable this.
Perhaps it isn't possible despite Apple BT 4.0 and AC WiFi?
Ah, I did wonder if it was. Thanks.I think this function is not in the dp1 yet.
Im sure it will also require iOS 10 and watchOS 3.
Correct, its not there. But the OP didn't mention anything about being on iOS 10 or watchOS 3, so I was just chiming in saying that once its included in a DP, those two requirements will probably have to be met as well.Yes, of course, but AFAIK, the function is not there yet.

If you look at my signature you'll see I have that and continuity does indeed work fine.If you are talking about using a Mac Pro 5,1 the answer is it won't work. At least not on a stock MP 5,1. You need continuity to do unlocking and to use continuity you need Bluetooth 4. Your 5,1 doesn't have it. You also can't do universal copy and paste on a 5,1 without buying a new Bluetooth dongle.

[...] In my 5,1 I only have a/b/g/n so, it won't work for me.
If you figure out a replacement card, let me know.
Dongles don't work for Apple features, it has to be a native card.
I use a card from osxwifi.com in my Mac Pro 4,1
These are cards that fit the original wifi slot and connect to the integrated antennas of the Mac Pro and run native.

AFAIK, not entirely true, it's all about if you get the correct BT controller. A USB dongle with the boardcom chip inside can actually activate the Apple feature.
Or maybe something like this:

He was talking about USB dongle. Something like this one

Hmm, I just installed Sierra on my 4,1->5,1 and I have a ac-wifi + bt4.0 card in mine and all functions are there. I can activate the Apple Watch unlock feature, but it just stays at "activating..."
I understand the difference, but if AC wifi is also an issue it's likely to be solved by the card in my post. If it's not an issue I agree that all that's needed is a broadcom bt 4.0 dongle.

Yep, same. Apple Watch unlock definitely does not work without using CAT on a 5,1I have been trying everything to get this working. Everything in my system says it should work but it does not activate. I think that perhaps Apple have excluded older hardware even although it is capable of doing it. All the Handoff functions work and according to the system information it should work but it does not.

That is exactly what happens with mine.
