I was able to follow the directions on the “OpenCore on the Mac Pro” thread to prep my DosDude Cataline install for the latest version of Big Sur. The in-place upgrade worked, but I’m experiencing a weird issue. The wireless just wont work as expected (BCM43xx). But my apple wired mouse and keyboard won’t work in the front USB ports, and the mouse won’t work in the rear ports. I tried several keyboards, and different versions of the apple wired mouse. They all seem to work just fine in Catalina. Any ideas?

System Specs:
  • 2010 4,1 flashed to 5,1
  • 2x 2.93 hex-core Xeon X5670
  • 32Gb 1066 ECC RAM (4x 8Gb—middle slots for each CPU)
  • MSI TwinFrozr GTX 680 2Gb flashed to Mac
  • PNY 240Gb CS900 SSD in slot one
  • Boot ROM Version: 140.0.0.0.0
  • SMC Version (system/processor tray): 1.39f11

that's a common problem with Big Sur and USB 1.1 Hardware. Try to connect it via some kind of USB Hub.
Great tip! I found a 20-year-old bus-powered USB hub, and the mouse started working, but the keyboard continues to not work. Any other suggestions?

restart a few times, also try connecting the Mouse thru the keyboard hub.
Strange. With them both plugged into the hub, the keyboard wouldn't work no matter what, and then I saw a notification. I plugged the keyboard into the front USB and they both worked. Then I moved the mouse from the hub to the keyboard, and it continued to work. Finally, I unplugged the hub and the key/mouse continued to work.

Thanks for the advice. I don't know if I'll ever need to use the wired key/mouse, but it's nice to know how to get it working.

Original Apple wired keyboard and mouse works for me flawless. No hub used, I connect the mouse into Apple keyboard USB port, then the keyboard wire into front USB port. I personally have random problems with the Bluetooth on an upgraded card with Apple Magic Keyboard/Mouse2.
