Every time I click the red minus button, delete does show up but when i click delete, nothing happens. Deletion is blocked at some level even though nothing about Apple Pay would qualify this to be a favorite.

Also:

Why give me a toggle for "Store" that when I click it, nothing happens?

----

I want to SMS people. That's it. I want ZERO other features. I already can't disable auto-expand of YT videos or URL previews and now every time I get a text, I have to see an icon for Applications next to my text input field that I can't remove and if I accidentally click it, I have an App Store and Apple Pay icon that I can't ever remove.

I pray that Apple never improves iMessages for mac. iOS Messages has transformed into something I hate. I only iMessage with one person and she knows I hate graphical things...everyone else gets sent through Google Voice because I just want plain text and I enjoy telling them i can't get picture mail because I can't and it's awesome. But I don't care if Apple wants to cater to children but what I do care about is that I can't disable these features en mass. No one has ever sent me fireworks in iMessage and if they do, I'm going to block them. I just wish Apple would let me turn it off....

The same goes for Emoji.

Am I just SOL here?
[doublepost=1512580927][/doublepost]I want all 3 of these red elements removed from my phone. Is this not possible?

If you want to SMS only then you're already failing since you're using iMessage which by its nature isn't SMS. You could disable iMessage, MMS, etc.

If I disable "iMessage" on my iPhone and just use the phone number assigned to my device, would all of these features go away? My GF and I are on the same phone plan so SMS isn't going to cost us any money. no one else has my phone number. It all goes through Google voice.
[doublepost=1512583729][/doublepost]Unfortunately, I still have the App Store icon and when I click it, nothing happens:

I guess Apple doesn't expect people to use this for texting via SMS protocol?

A guy who says he’ll block anyone who sends him fireworks expects us to take him seriously?

My block list is not that big mostly because everyone I know SMSs me via Google Voice who has thankfully not put any dumb graphics. I don't even think it supports Emoji.

Thanks for the help.

Guys, I just want simple messaging. It appears that's not possible. Thanks for the help.
Seems like with the use of just SMS it's pretty much what you want with the exception of one icon that doesn't really do anything.

it is possible, just don't tap these icons, sorry you can't hide them.
not that it matters a great deal to you perhaps, you get end-to-end encryption with iMessage (blue bubbles) where as SMS is all open for abusive police/nation-state forces to eavesdrop (I'm looking at you CPD).

or, stop worrying and learn to love the

I will still file a bug report with Apple that the button doesn't do anything when you disable iMessage. They should hide it.

I'd prefer the encryption. What I don't want is the bloated UI. The SMS messages I share with my GF are about grocery runs and leaving work. No photos or links or fireworks so I don't think the feds will care that much.

If you want simple messaging, you're going to have to go back in time
[doublepost=1512597291][/doublepost]But, all joking aside, something is wrong with your phone. I was able to remove Apple Pay Cash entirely

Whoa. alright then. good to know I'm alone here. I thought it was very Microsoft of Apple to not let me remove Apple Pay from favorites. I still think completely removing iMessage App Store from iMessages should be possible here or in settings.

That would be a disservice to all of the iMessage App developers out there.

Apple lets me hide App Store in a folder so I don't have to see it. Your argument is a stretch. The user can hide it after being made aware of its existence.

Is the icon that basically disappears after you typed in some characters into the message field really that much of an issue? I mean I'd likely hide it too if I could, but once I found out that I couldn't I basically moved on and haven't really given it much thought after that. The app drawer was a bit more of a distraction, but thankfully that can be hidden.

I had a toggle and was able to remove apple pay from iMessages on both my iPad and iPhone

If u go to settings and wallet u can disable
