Hi,
i am a apple user and rather enthusiastic about mac os X and unix. I work in IT but I have almost never been able to use a apple computer at work because the companies I worked for all had the usual dreadful windoze laptop or desktop, and no option to "use your own" hardware.
I'd like to find a job in a company where using a apple laptop or desktop is a possibility, either because they allow it or because it's their policy.
I have created the website, http://www.appleatwork.org where I would like to collect names and locations of that type of companies where people are using apple (or at least linux) computers, desktop and laptops.
The website is still in its infancy, it needs a lot of work.
I need help to populate my list of companies.
If you know of a company using apple and/or linux desktops/laptops, please email me: mail @ appleatwork.org.
Please send the company name and the location and any details available.
I am not looking for any secret or anything that might be seen as unlawful disclosure. If you know that a company would not appreciate this information to be out there, please refrain from sending details or let me know.
This research wants to focus on desktops and laptops: it is common especially for big companies to have all sorts of servers, aix, solaris, linux; sometimes even mac os X.
However, I am not interested in that. I would like to focus on the platform used on desktops and laptops only.

And whilst the idea is admirable (connecting those with Apple experience with those that need people who work on Mac) - I wouldn't think of hiring someone who thought 'Windoze' was appropriate lexicon when writing a post like that.

I use and have used Apple's at work. Pure bliss. When I use windows, on the other hand, its pure misery. Fortunate position to be in, because I know a lot of companies wouldn't even consider macs.

No compatibility issues - IT knew Macs, integrated fine with ActiveDirectory ( via 3rd party software ).

to the first poster: that of privacy is a major problem for my project and I totally understand.
Maybe you could give me just the location and the business area? Just to have an idea that in that town there is a company working on apple.

to the second poster: not sure if your criticism relates to my spelling or to my dislike of the MS brand.
I used the version "windoze" (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Windoze) as in "Derogatory internet slang for Microsoft Windows.".
If you are not happy because of the feelings of dislike that I express towards that awful sub-OS, then I am sorry I can't help you.
And I can't help suspect that you might be in the wrong place then, because this is typically a website for apple users/fans.

My idea is only to create an inventory presented in a geographic way to give an idea of companies around us that have adopted apple computers.

I hope to get some feedback, if the name of the company cannot be divulged, then a location and maybe the type of business could be already indicative.

I'm OS ambivolent. I use XP and Win7 regularly. I use OSX regularly. I have no preference. They all have problems. They all have benefits. Claiming one is better or worse is just pure crap. It's impossible to take someone seriously when they resort to the 'Windoze' or the even more hilarious 'Micro$oft' meme's.

It tells me one thing - very loudly. You need to grow up.

it's a good thing that microsoft has people like yourself who have enough time in their hands to harass people like me, just because I am trying to have some fun with the things that I like: javascript, google maps api v3 and apple (in this case).
what would be life without miserable people like you?
keep on with the good work and make sure that you spoil any attempt at having a good time.
I am wondering: does your probity apply to all corporations or does it apply strictly to microsoft?
for example, could I make fun of Ikea? what about IBM? McDonald's? Unilever?
