Who would use the XDR monitor for photo uses? Would it be better to get Eizo CG279X instead?

It's not designed for stills as much as video; an Apple branded reference monitor. It's got great resolution, but given the size ergonomics on a desk could be an issue. I also don't think it has the Adobe sRGB of the Eizo or similar monitors.

It would certainly work. IF you had the graphics to push it, so budget for that Mac Pro as well.

So Eizo monitors would be better for photography uses I guess?

Hey.... if you've got about $7,000 to spare... why not give it a whirl....? ;)

I had ordered one since they were going back order. But cancelled it the more I thought about it. Having to use a special cloth. The price of AppleCare (more than a Mac Pro) signaling Apple expects costly repairs. My issues were more with worrying I’d have issues or worrying about worrying.

The claim to fame is extreme hdr and brightness. I decided to be patient as this tech matures a bit. I’ll wait and see what iMac Pro has in mind later.

Its a gorgeous monitor to be sure, but I think its overkill, yet if you have the $$$ why not
