So this is my first time getting a Mac and I am really excited to get my new Air 13" in a couple weeks.
My question is, is there any difference if I buy Apple care now or just before my one year warranty runs out?
Also I heard that sometimes Amazon has deals on them so I can get it cheaper?! Is that true?
Is there anything else I should consider?
thanks!

The only difference between buying it now compared to later is that you only get phone support for 90 days on the normal warranty, and as soon as you buy AppleCare, it starts up again until 3 years is over. But that's about it, the actually service in store isn't any different.

The only advantage AppleCare gives you in the first year is telephone support from days 91-365. I usually shy away from extended warranties, but AppleCare is a little different since it gives you telephone support.

Occasionally some outlets will offer AppleCare at a discount, though Apple discourages it, and has cracked down on unauthorized eBay sales (by resellers) in the past.

Thanks for the quick replies.
I am just gonna get it after a year because I will never use the telephone support anyways.

If you buy at apple store they generally give you a discount if your a student or government employee. I paid 183 for mine and I've shopped around prior and best deal I saw was about 195. You may get lucky and find just as good deal, but most money will be saved at initial purchase.
