Does each accidental replacement cover just one pods or is it for the pair? It would be dumb to just replace one pods near the end of the two years.

My understanding is that you only get a replacement for whichever piece is "broken".

But I've asked similar question in the past but didn't get an answer where I was wondering if the entire set gets broken, such being run over, do you pay a single $29 incident fee, or does it cost $29 x 3? I wasn't able to find this detail in the Applecare terms of service.

If your AirPods or Charging Case get damaged accidentally, you can replace each damaged item for an out-of-warranty fee. If you have AppleCare+ for Headphones, you’ll pay only an AppleCare+ service fee per incident.

I just did an online chat with a specialist and he said that as long as the breakage is under one incident, it is only a one time fee.
So if you break both pods, or even the whole set of AirPods (pods+case), it'd be one coverage.
