Applecare covered but I didn't buy it where did it came from?

Hi everyone this is my first post hope to put it in the right place. So I bought my MBP on January this year, 2 months ago I had some trouble with my battery got it change with the exchange program and as this happend I discovered when typing my serial in the About Your Support Coverage text box this: "Our records indicate that your product is covered under the AppleCare Protection Plan" now the thing is that I bought this on a ebay auction from an autorized apple reseller ebay sales deparment, I dont remmeber the description of the item saying that it included the applecare protection plan and for sure I didnt buy it.

So what's the deal? did I just get it for free out of nowhere?, the only conclusion I had came to is that someone may have registered on my serial number by mistake, is this possible? and if so could the actual owner discover this and take it away from my MPB? is it possible that the owner had order with the MPB and enrolled it before selling?

You have, with any new Apple product, 1 year of free AppleCare covering hardware defects and 90 days of telephone support.

If you purchase AppleCare, then both of those are pushed out to three years.

If it was registered before being sold to you, congrats! AppleCare is great for laptops and is transferable from owner to owner. And it is highly unlikely that it was mistakenly registered by someone else.

Type in your machine's serial number, and it'll tell you how much longer you've got AppleCare for.
