Hello - I was looking into extending AppleCare for my mom on her XS Max. She has AppleCare but would like to extend it after it expires and she found out she can do this on a monthly basis.

I just wanted to confirm that you still continue to get 2 accidental events per year, correct? so if she broke her phone in the 12 month period before, starting in the new 12 month period, she can break her screen again right?

thanks!

My understanding is yes, as long as you continue to pay each month you will be allowed up to two incidences per 12-month period, just as before. If you don’t pay each month then obviously your coverage ends.
When I bought my XR I couldn’t afford to throw down for both the phone and AppleCare+ all at once so I opted to pay monthly, it’s now been just over two years and I realized last month when I got another billing email that I’m two monthly payments into what is now my third year of coverage, which was a pleasant surprise. I was unaware that they were extending AppleCare beyond two years on a monthly basis. I suppose at some point I’ll have to decide whether or not it’s worth it as the phone becomes outdated, but for now as I notice the battery health start to eking down towards 80% capacity it will be nice to get it fixed under warranty. And not having to pay a lot of money to fix the screen if I break it again (has only happened once and I’ve probably dropped this phone a couple hundred times 😂) gives me some peace of mind.
