Did you order Apple Care for your AirPods.

I never had apple Care before.

Lets say I purchase it, and the contract goes for 2 years. After 23 Months, can I just order 3 new batteries ( Left, right, Case) and pay 29 bucks additional?

How does it work?

I’m not sure for AirPods since the battery isn’t user replaceable. I believe something has to be wrong with them for a whole replacement. And if not then after x years it’s just battery wear like any normal device and you can’t just pay. I’m pretty sure that’s how it goes but I could be wrong.

My reading of that is $98 ($49 x2, L/R) and $49 for the case, using your use case, since AC+ only covers battery defects.

That’s correct and it is pretty clear if you read the Ac+ condition here https://support.apple.com/airpods/repair/service

Since we are not able to check the APP battery status it may happen that they refuse to change the battery even with the AC+ because it’s more than 80%.

The most of the people thinks that with that insurance you can change your AirPods when you “think” they perform worse but actually it’s not true.

Yeah, but isn't it very likely that after 2 years of moderate use, they fall under the 80 %?

Only time will tell. I've also not seen it written officially about the 80%. The information just references defects, which Apple can choose to define however it likes (to some degree).

Since battery replacements are free, and OP was willing to pay a moderate fee - the clear answer here is to stand on them.

Intentionally break them by standing on them accidentally... (since AppleCare+ covers accidental damage, but not non-defective batteries)
