Applecare for iPhone, couple questions

Ok, does anyone know how long after I bought the iPhone can I purchase the applecare for it? I heard you have to buy it within the first 90 days, that true?

Also, I used to be from CT, so I'm wondering why this is (its at the bottom of the applecare page):

"Special Instructions for Residents of Alabama, Connecticut, Nevada, and Wyoming

Apple is not authorized to sell the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone to residents of Alabama, Connecticut, Nevada, or Wyoming. If you are a resident of Alabama, Connecticut, Nevada, or Wyoming, please do not order the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone. If you submit an order that includes the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone, Apple will remove it from your order, notify you about the removal and process the remaining items on your order."

I thought I read on the initial posting about the AppleCare plan that you could purchase it any time during the original 1 year warranty.

I ALSO read that it didn't cover accidental breakage, but that it DID cover the battery.

It's possible that consumer protection laws in some states require extended warranties to cover breakage as well as malfunction, in which case Apple would most likely refuse to offer an extended warranty in that state. Also, some states may treat the sale of an extended warranty as a sale of insurance, and require the seller to be licensed as an insurer in the state. Again, that would likely cause some companies to avoid selling an extended warranty in such a state.

I am not sure about you but I think i am going to wait until the year is almost up to get the apple care, and I think i am going to see how much it will to cost through my insurance agency.

You are right . . . straight from Apple's site:
This plan extends your service coverage to two years from the date of your iPhone purchase. The plan must be purchased while your iPhone is still under its original one-year warranty. Service coverage may be subject to certain restrictions.

But is it valid having bought a us phone and imported it to germany...? Worldwide coverage á la MacBook's or not? You're meant to travel with this thing fer' chrissakes.
