Just out of curiosity, how many of you actually bought the AppleCare for your MBA? It's kinda pricey for an "extended warranty".

$180 is the student discount.
Go to apple.com/store and search "student discount." if you are a student you get a discount.
....Given this is a portable and it will be mobile rather than a permanent fixture on a desk, it's cheap insurance. I don't expect any problems but you never know.
My sister's old MacBook has had keyboard, wrist rest panel, and battery replaced by Apple after over 3 years of use. She never bought AppleCare, but Apple replaced those parts for her for free. So I'm wondering if AppleCare is just some unnecessary services which Apple claim the benefits you'll get in order to get money from you.
Because like I said, apparently, you don't need AppleCare to have your computer repaired from them.
I had Applecare for both of my two previous Mac laptops and plan on getting it for my MBA, too. I never had to use it with my first Mac, a 17 inch Powerbook G4, but it saved me on the PB's replacement, a 17 inch MBA. The MBA's logic board died when it was less than two years old. Thanks to Applecare, Apple replaced the logic board at no cost to me. I have also used Applecare telephone support extensively.
The million-dollar question would be: would Apple still have replaced the logic board for you if you hadn't had the AppleCare? Because my sister did get multiple parts replaced free of charge without AppleCare.

Actually, I do plan to get it for my new 13" MBA, but I'm just curious if this service is actually unnecessary.
